The City College of San Francisco men’s basketball team has won nine of its first 10 games of the season after dominating Contra Costa, 105-59, on Sunday. It was the Rams’ third win in as many games in the Golden Gate Tournament over the weekend. CCSF won those contests by an average margin of 35.67 points. Michael Steadman led the way in the tourney finale, scoring 25 points on 16 shots while grabbing 11 rebounds. Through the first 10 games of the season, the Rams are scoring 93.1 points per game. They return to action on Thursday against Merritt in the San Jose Classic.

USF

The University of San Francisco is preparing for its first-ever women’s indoor track & field season. The Dons will launch the new program in January with Helen Lehman Winters acting as head coach. USF already has a top-flight stable of long-distance runners who they will look to complement with long-sprinters and hurdlers. “The addition of indoor track will provide our women with more competitive opportunities in the winter and help us reach our program goals on a national level during the outdoor season,” Lehman-Winters said in a news release. To bolster their chances in their first year, the Dons added Samantha Lind — an Australian athlete who finished fifth in the distance medley relay at the 2015 World Relay Championships.

SFSU

New San Francisco State University head wrestling coach Jason Welch earned his first win with the program on Saturday, when the Gators beat Southern Oregon. Romeo Medina-Ontiveros put SFSU on the board early by claiming a major decision in the 165-pound weight class. Justin Pichedwatana earning a technical fall furthered the Gators’ lead from there. Heavyweight Sam Alnassiri pinned his opponent. Brandon Vu won by technical fall in the 125-pound division. Nathan Cervantez (133-pound) and Joshua Villaflor (141-pound) both won by decision. Isiah Alva (149-pound) pinned his foe. The Gators’ next match is Saturday at 2 p.m. against Simpson at home.

ART U

The Academy of Art University men’s basketball team played its first eight games of the season on the road. The results weren’t impressive as the Urban Knights have stumbled out to a 1-7 record. They return home tonight for their home opener against Notre Dame de Namur at Kezar Pavilion. Kendall Brown had a pair of noteworthy individual performances last week, logging the first double-double of his career and setting a new high scoring mark by netting 23 points against Dixie State.
