Committee to hear bill on landlords sharing bond costs

The Land Use and Economic Development Committee will hear legislation that would allow landlords to pass on to tenants 50 percent of the cost of any future school district and community college district bond measures. The legislation comes as the San Francisco Unified School District seeks passage of a Nov. 7 $450 million facilities bond measure. Bonds are funded by property taxes, which are paid by property owners.

The committee meets today, at 1 p.m., in City Hall, Room 263.

San Francisco agency nears completion of dam removal

The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission is near completion of a dam removal on Alameda Creek, which will restore threatened steelhead, according to agency officials. On Thursday, the SFPUC will remove the remaining concrete of the 100-year-old Sunol Dam and will sign an agreement to protect the creek and restore fisheries.

“Inside/Out,” the San Francisco Art Commission’s guide to arts and arts education resources for children and teens in The City is now available at 25 Van Ness, Room 240. Proceeds benefit the San Francisco Unified School District.

Newsom appoints members to Housing Authority

Mayor Gavin Newsom announced on Tuesday the appointment of Millard Larkin II to The City’s Housing Authority and the reappointments of Neola Gans and George Brown.

The primary mission of the SFHA is to provide safe, sanitary, affordable and decent housing to very low-income families, senior citizens and people with disabilities.
