Supervisors consider plan to tighten building enforcement

A Board of Supervisors committee meets Monday to vote on legislation that would beef up city enforcement of building conditions.

The legislation, drafted by Supervisor Ross Mirkarimi, would allow the Department of Public Health to require building owners to attend training sessions if they are repeat offenders. It also allows the health department to force building owners to close up any holes or cracks were rodents might be able to sneak through.

The Board of Supervisors City Operations and Neighborhood Services Committee meets Monday, at 1 p.m., in City Hall, Room 263.

Citywide greening efforts highlighted in festival

The 12th annual Sunset Community Festival takes place today at the Sunset Recreation Center. The theme this year is “Spotlight on Our Environment.” Information booths, live entertainment, food and activities will highlight citywide greening efforts to keep families in San Francisco.

CITY BEAUTIFICATION

Volunteer beautification program holds community day

The Community Clean Team will hold a community day today from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Galileo High School, Francisco Street and Van Ness Avenue. The Community Clean Team is a citywide volunteer program that partners city agencies with residents, merchants and students to clean and beautify San Francisco neighborhoods.
