Commission to hold Loma Prieta Memorial

The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission will host a memorial service commemorating the 17-year anniversary of the Loma Prieta Earthquake at 9:30 a.m. at the Fort Mason Center on Laguna Street and Marina Boulevard.

The commission will be capturing attendees’ memories of pipelines breaking and being without water because of the earthquake for a documentary video the agency is putting together.

Settlement with medical group announced

City Attorney Dennis Herrera on Monday announced a settlement between Brown & Toland Medical Group and Chinese Hospital.

Brown & Toland, one of the largest managed care physician networks, was accused of threatening Chinese Hospital’s ability to continue serving its patients, according to the lawsuit.

Chinese Hospital is the last remaining independent private hospital in The City. As part of the settlement, Brown & Toland will pay The City $100,000.

Elections

Voters now have online source for information

Bay Area voters now have a new digital tool to access election information. A new Web site, www.bayareavotes.org, was launched by The San Francisco Department of Elections and the Bay Area Outreach Committee. It provides links to election official Web sites in 12 counties. The counties include San Francisco, Alameda, San Mateo, Marin and Santa Clara.
