A man arrested in Utah last month on suspicion of child molestation in Millbrae over a two-decade period has been extradited back to San Mateo County, sheriff’s officials said Tuesday.
Latu Kamisese Lavaki, 59, is accused of molesting five young girls in Millbrae between 1985 and 2006.
The investigation into Lavaki, a resident of South Jordan in Utah, began in August 2015 and led to his arrest on June 14, sheriff’s officials said.
Investigators believe Lavaki molested the victims when they were between 6 and 8 years old. He was extradited from Utah on Sunday and booked into San Mateo County Jail on suspicion of child molestation, according to the sheriff’s office.
Additional victims or anyone with more information that may help with the case have been encouraged to contact Detective Joe Cang at (650) 259-2417.
