CCSF women win game by 60 points — College Roundup

The City College of San Francisco women’s basketball didn’t leave anything to chance the last time it took the floor. The Rams beat Ohlone College, 89-29, last Wednesday on the road. The lopsided victory pushed CCSF’s winning streak to seven. City forced 35 turnovers in the contest. Caprice Taylor had 18 points and eight steals, while Apollinia Illalio added 12 off the bench. The Rams return to action tonight at home against Chabot College.

SFSU

In their first game against former men’s basketball head coach Paul Trevor, the San Francisco State Gators saw their six-game win streak come to an end. Stanislaus State beat SFSU, 86-73, as the Gators played without leading scorer Warren Jackson. Evan Zeller paced the losing side, scoring 20 points with four assists and a pair of steals. SFSU will look to get back on track on Friday against Cal State San Marcos. The contest will be broadcast on Comcast Hometown Network Channel

ART U

The Academy of Art University men’s basketball team has nearly gotten itself out of the early-season hole it created. The Urban Knights won a pair of conference games over the weekend, beating Dominican and Biola. In the process, Art U swept Dominican in the season series — the first time the Urban Knights have accomplished that feat. In its 77-73 win over Biola on Monday, Kendall Brown scored a game-high 24 points. Art U (9-11) will look to continue its strong play on Saturday at Point Loma.

USF

University of San Francisco runner Jack Rowe set the school record for the 3,000m over the weekend at the University of Washington Invitational. Rowe finished the course with a time of 7:58.82, good for eighth overall. He beat the previous record by about 12 seconds.
