A 60-year-old man was brutally beaten and robbed in the Mission district Tuesday, one of three violent robberies since Monday in The City. No arrests have been made in any of the cases.
In the Mission district robbery, five thugs immediately began punching and kicking the 60-year-old man in a surprise attack at 26th Street and South Van Ness Avenue around 2:30 a.m. cops said. While the victim was down, one of the hoodlums rifled through his pockets and stole $350 cash, police said. The man was treated at the hospital for injuries that were not life threatening.
On Monday at 8:30 a.m., a 26-year-old woman was robbed of her cellphone in the Bayview by a thug sitting next to her on a Muni bus. When the bus came to a stop, the man grabbed the phone and fled after a brief struggle with the victim, police said.
Around 5:45 p.m. Monday, two teen thieves pushed a 27-year-old man while robbing his cellphone at 20th and Illinois streets, police said.
