Power was lost for less than 5 minutes in San Francisco’s central subway midday Thursday, according to the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Authority, stopping all trains and delaying service.
Paul Rose, spokesman for the SFMTA, said power and service have since been restored.
The cause: a generator at the central control system failed at 11:56 a.m., according to Rose.
“It affected everything,” Rose said.
SFMTA employees were able to restore power to the generator by noon, Rose said. And service is getting back to normal.
“We are restoring service gradually,” Rose said. “Riders can expect delays for the next hour.”
The cause of the generator failure is unknown, however. Rose said no injuries have been reported.
Shuttles are also running between West Portal and Embarcadero stations.
