Bocce ball courts proposal before Land Use Committee

Since it was premature for the Board of Supervisors to vote on converting the palm-tree lined grassy knoll at the Embarcadero to bocce ball courts without more public discussions, the Land Use Committee will make their recommendation on the proposal Monday.

Rec and Park agreed to accept $61,000 from the Laborers Local 261 Community & Training Foundation at their regular meeting in August with one opposing vote by Commissioner Gloria Bonilla who said it was unfair to approve it without further outreach.

Since then, Rec and Park has held a meeting with neighbors about the plan.

Families are also pushing for a park in the area, but are not competing for that specific piece land.

The bocce ball courts will be discussed at the Land Use Committee’s regular 1 p.m. meeting.
