Victor Maymudes, Bob Dylan’s old road manager and buddy, once had a book deal with St. Martin’s Press to pen a biography of the singer. He recorded hours of memories on tape but unfortunately died suddenly of a brain aneurysm before he could begin to write.
According to Rolling Stone, his son Jake is now taking up where his dad left off by launching a Kickstarter campaign to get it published. Don’t expect a lot of dirt, unless you think that smuggling pot into different states for recreational use is salacious. (Ringo Starr allegedly bogarted Dylan’s joint, though.) However, it should give a bird’s-eye view of the fiercely private Dylan’s rise and will probably be an interesting look-see into music’s answer to J.D. Salinger. Maymudes wants to raise $45,000; at press time he had raised nearly $11,00 with less than one day left.
