South Sunset Park needs some community oversight

Supervisor Carmen Chu wants residents in her district to form a South Sunset Park community group, the same park that the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission is eyeing for a well to tap into the groundwater supply.

The park that sits at 40th Avenue and Vicente Street also is also one of several to get new synthetic turf through a public-private partnership with the Recreation and Park Department and nonprofit City Fields Foundation, and both are also on board for a new community group.

Chu is holding a meeting with the nonprofit Neighborhood Parks Council a week from Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the clubhouse.
