Supervisor Michela Alioto-Pier introduced legislation at Tuesday’s Board of Supervisors meeting that would make parking garage operators’ permits the responsibility of the Police Department. Currently, the permits fall under the Fire Department.

The legislation would impose a $455 filing fee for the commercial parking permits to pay for police inspections. It would require the department to conduct criminal history checks on the operators and those working in the garages or lots.
