It took a while but Newsom has nominated someone for the final empty slot on the Police Commission, white-collar crime attorney Jamie Slaughter.
Slaughter is a partner at the Keker & Van Nest law firm in San Francisco, which is run by Oliver North prosecutor John Keker, who just happens to be advising District Attorney Kamala Harris on divulging the criminal histories of SFPD employees who testify at trial.
“Jamie’s legal experience in civil and criminal law will be a tremendous resource to the Police Commission,” Newsom said in a statement. “I am proud to nominate him and immensely grateful for his willingness to serve on the Commission and work with Chief Gascón to ensure our city’s public safety is protected.”
Slaughter previously served on the Taxi Commission, appointed by Newsom.
