Newsom heading to China on Monday

The mayor is headed to China.

Along with members of the chamber of commerce and the center for economic development, Mayor Gavin Newsom will leave for a trip to China on Monday.

The trip, according to the center for economic development, will allow Newsom and other city officials to meet with Chinese businesspeople and government officials with a business-focused itinerary.

Newsom will start in Shanghai and visit museums as well as take time to meet with planning and high speed rail officials. While there, Shanghai, San Francisco’s sister city, will be celebrating San Francisco week. Three days will also be spent in the World Expo.

The travelers will then visit Beijing, where they will meet with the chamber of commerce and international trade commission.

The cost of the trip is estimated to be $4,265 per person. The price includes air travel, meals, an English-speaking guide and tickets to the World Expo.

The trip concludes June 25.
