MTC seeking public participation for future planning efforts

The region’s lead transportation planning agency is seeking increased input from the public regarding future projects for the Bay Area.

The Metropolitan Transportation Commission is updating its official Public Participation Plan, a guideline for getting residents in the nine-county Bay Area involved in transit and transportation planning.

Officially adopted in 2007, the MTC updates its Public Participation Plan frequently, and Aug. 23 marks the deadline for feedback and comments from local residents. As part of the updated Public Participation Plan, the MTC added a new citizens’ advisory board and focused its emphasis on a sustainable communities strategy.

To become more involved in the MTC’s planning process, residents can e-mail, mail, fax or call the agency. The agency’s contact information is available on its website.
