Mayor appoints newest member to SFMTA

It’s official, Cheryl Brinkman is the newest board member for the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency.

Mayor Gavin Newsom on Wednesday conducted the swearing-in of seven new commissioners and board members at a ceremony at City Hall. When he got to Brinkman, a veteran transit rider, Newsom casually stated the facts: “I don’t know why anyone would want to be on the MTA board,” which is why he’s so grateful.

Newsom also swore in the following commissioners:

Board of Appeals

  • Michael Garcia

Entertainment Commission

  • John Newlin

Health Service System Board

  • Jordan Shlain

Human Rights Commission

  • Todd Mavis

Port Commission

  • Rodney Fong

SFPUC Revenue Bond Oversight Committee

  • Aimee Brown
