A plan to build a new bus facility, retail space and affordable housing units near the City College of San Francisco’s main campus received a big boost today when the federal government announced the dedication of $6.8 million for the project.

The project, a joint venture between the Municipal Transportation Agency, which operates Muni, and the Redevelopment Agency is sited for the intersection of Phelan and Geneva avenues.

The $6.8 million allocation for the project was part of a $293 million funding package released by the Federal Transit Administration.
