City needs help herding cats

The city is inundated with kittens that need a home.

In fact, Animal Care and Control is considering holding a mobile adopt-a-thon starting this weekend because they have close to 200 felines.

“We have two kennels that are empty,’’ said Animal Care and Control spokeswoman Rebecca Katz.

A prospective owner can expect to pay about $99 for a cat that’s six months or older or $125 for a younger cat.

That comes with spaying or neutering, one free vet visit, a microchip and vaccinations, she said.

The shelter at 1200 15th St. is open every day from noon to 6 p.m.

And if none of the 200 cats fit your fancy, try over at the nonprofit San Francisco Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals because they’re swamped, too.
