A swath of sand dunes that was painstakingly restored by green-thumbed Outer Richmond neighbors is set to be renamed Sutro Dunes.
The 3.3-acre parcel of land stretches north from Balboa Street along the Great Highway.
It was originally slated to be used for a housing project, but neighbors helped block that project and replanted the sand with native species.
The lot is presently named Parcel 4, but the Board of Supervisors’ Land Use Committee on Monday is scheduled to hold a hearing to discuss changing that name.
