Anonymous fliers prompting concern of Muni operator sickout

Anonymous fliers circulating across The City have prompted concerns that Muni’s operators may be organizing a five-day “sickout” next week.

The pamphlets, distributed on San Francisco streets, are encouraging members of the Transport Workers Union Local 250-A to ditch work from September 13 (starting with late-night Owl operators) to September 17. Management representatives from the union, which represents 2,200 operators, have said the sickout plan is unsanctioned.

In the type-written note, the anonymous author(s) list a set of grievances against Muni’s management, including recent changes to scheduling, parking perks, pay for union representatives and sick leave policies.

The union, miffed at Muni management for not meeting and conferring with it more on service restoration plans, recently lost an appeal to prevent the changes from taking place.
