The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency’s board of directors could approve a plan Tuesday that will detail a list of the agency’s priorities until 2018.

The department’s five-year strategic plan will cover policy initiatives between 2013 and 2018. The plan has four main goals — creating a safe transportation experience, making transit, biking, walking and taxis the preferred mode of travel, improving the quality of life in San Francisco, and establishing a workplace that delivers outstanding service.

At the centerpiece of the five-year strategic plan is the agency’s new mission statement under executive director Ed Reiskin: “We work together to plan, build, operate, regulate and maintain the transportation network, with our partners, to connect communities.”

The agency’s last strategic plan covered the years between 2008 and 2013.

The agency’s board of directors will vote on the new strategic plan at its 1 p.m. meeting today.
