Two write-in candidates in the mayoral race have yet to receive even one measly vote, but both said they did indeed vote for themselves and they’re just waiting for it to be counted.
Coming in at zero votes so far are John Edward Fitch — a first time candidate and 58-year-old resident of the Tenderloin neighborhood — and Patrick Monette-Shaw, who also ran for mayor in 2007.
Fitch said he voted, but added that there was a larger reason why he didn’t do well in the race.
“What happened was, I was somewhat blacklisted,” Fitch said. “They tried to ace me out of this thing, and then it got deep. I couldn’t even get my name mentioned [by local TV stations]. I even had a master plan I dropped off for them.”
Monette-Shaw said he has an email into the Elections Department, where workers told him they were sifting through the remaining ballots still left to be counted.
“I’m not going to give up on it,” Monette-Shaw said.
