Naked is OK, just don’t walk into restaurants or sit down on public benches or chairs without first putting down a towel. Those were the rules adopted Tuesday by the Board of Supervisors when they approved legislation introduced by Supervisor Scott Wiener to address neighborhood concerns about nudity. 

Wiener said that it was a "very narrow piece of legislation to address two very discrete issues that are primarily impacting the Castro but could be elsewhere as well," he said. "I know there’s been a lot of discussion about this and the press has been obsessed with it and that’s fine. But when we had the hearing on it, no one came out to oppose it.”

Wiener said that “we did hear from folks in the neighborhood that these are actually tangible issues that are happening in the Castro and so the legislation is important for that reason.”

The law was approved in an 11-0 vote.
