Four candidates for San Francisco sheriff are cemented on the November ballot as of Wednesday afternoon, when Supervisor Ross Mirkarimi filed signatures to make it official in the last waning hours before the deadline.

The candidate list also includes Chris Cunnie, Paul Miyamoto and David Wong. Cunnie, the former San Francisco police union boss, has netted endorsements from U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein, Attorney General Kamala Harris and Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom.

Mirkarimi is being endorsed by the outgoing 32-year Sheriff Michael Hennessey, while Miyamoto, a captain in the department, appears to have the support of rank-and-file members after an endorsement in June by the San Francisco Deputy Sheriffs’ Association.

Wong, a 20-year veteran of the department, was fired in June by Hennessey for striking a handcuffed inmate, but Wong insists that politics had more to do with the termination. Wong was the sole candidate to run against Hennessey in 2007.
