Supervisor David Chiu and the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency have teamed up on a plan that would regulate and oversee tour buses in San Francisco.
The plan, introduced at Tuesday’s Board of Supervisors meeting, would create more efficient loading zones for tour buses, provide metered parking spaces for the vehicles, establish overnight parking zones, and develop a permit system to better manage enforce bus parking and loading.
In a joint release issued by Chiu and the SFMTA, the draft plan would “improve tour bus circulation and parking management.”
Chiu has long had issue with tour buses in San Francisco. Last year, he began looking into problems of pollution and loudspeaker noise created by the vehicles in residential neighborhoods.
The SFMTA, which manages Muni, is responsible for all transportation policies in San Francisco.
