Mayor Ed Lee is not satisfied with an unreliable Muni, and wants the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency to pick a new director who will be a strong leader with “an exhibited high level of collaboration” to start improving the transit agency, he said during Tuesday’s Board of Supervisors meeting.
“Muni is only there when you expect it 71 percent of time,” Lee said. He wants the new director to achieve the 85 percent on-time voter mandated performance. “On-time performance is not just Muni. It has to do with so many other entities,” Lee said.
Muni’s operation has never lived up to the on-time performance, something riders only know to well.
The agency’s board of directors could make a decision on who should serve as the agency’s next top chief as early as this month.
