Mayor Ed Lee handpicks three members for Redistricting Task Force

The nine-member panel determining the future of San Francisco’s political districts has been rounded out with the latest appointees to the Redistricting Task Force announced by Mayor Ed Lee on Friday.

And the winners are: Myong Leigh, Deputy Superintendent for Policy and Operations for the San Francisco Unified School District, Sonia Melara, the Executive Director of Rally Family Visitation Services of Saint Francis Memorial Hospital, and Marily Mondejar, president of the Filipina Women’s Network.

Along with three members selected by the Board of Supervisors and three members selected by the Elections Commission, the group will be redrawing supervisorial districts based on new census data. The outcome of which could make a major impact on district elections.

And the one district that could be impacted the most is District 6, the former Chris Daly stronghold has seen major changes in the last decade, and current Supervisor Jane Kim could be fighting for reelection with a very different district than what it is today.
