The Draft Ed Lee for mayor campaign launches TV, Internet ad

The Draft Ed Lee campaign announced Tuesday that it is launching a new television and Internet advertisement campaign encouraging the interim mayor to run for the office in November, according to a statement from the campaign.

The 30-second spot will air this weekend on NBC’s “Meet the Press” as well as on local NBC, ABC and CBS affiliates, the campaign said. The ad can be seen on YouTube as well.

Draft Ed Lee campaign founder Michael Bryer said, “Mayor Lee should let the voters decide if he should continue to be mayor. The very fabric of our democracy is to allow a majority of citizens to choose who they like as their political leader. Not only does Ed Lee have a constitutional right to run, he has the civic responsibility to do so. If we’re being honest about what is best for San Francisco, it’s having him serve a full-term as mayor. That is why we are drafting him.”
