Web-savvy BART passengers now have a new tool to find out information about arriving and departing trains on the rail system.

Through a partnership with Google, BART’s schedules are now available when a prospective passenger uses the search engine to look up transit travel options. The new service, called Google Live Transit Updates, will provide users with schedules, service advisories, and real-time departures and arrivals.

BART already has partnered with third-party data providers on dozens of different mobile scheduling applications. The agency also posts scheduling information on its website.

So, if BART passengers can’t access the agency’s website, have none of three dozen applications on hand, and don’t know about Transit 511, they can always rely on good old trustworthy Google to find out what’s going on.
