Monday is the last day to add your two cents to the 3,000 comments that have piled up in response to a proposal to dramatically reduce where dogs can roam without a leash on federal park lands.
The Golden Gate National Recreation Area opened the public comment period to its draft impact statement for dog management on Jan. 14. The proposal affects popular dog spots such as Fort Funtson, Ocean Beach and Crissy Field.
The comment period was originally supposed to end April 14, but the GGNRA had problems with submissions online and extended the deadline to Monday.
A spokeswoman for the GGNRA said even though the period ends on a holiday, people will still be able to enter their last comments online.
Later this fall, the GGNRA is expected to release a proposal on how to enforce the new laws. After that it will release a final environmental impact statement with another round of public comment on the proposal for dog management.
Federal officials have said they expect new laws to be in place by the end of 2012.
