Online mayoral town hall on tap for June

Hey techies, here’s a chance to meet the front runners in the mayor’s race without having to leave your seat.

Eight of 31 current candidates for San Francisco mayor will be part of an online townhall meeting on June 16. Those lucky candidates include Michela Alioto-Pier, David Chiu, Bevan Dufty, Tony Hall, Dennis Herrera, Joanna Rees, Phil Ting and Leland Yee.

The event is described as “a townhall forum focused specifically on open government, citizen engagement and leveraging technology to build better government. The event will be held June 16 at Automattic (home of WordPress) and will be moderated by tech legend Mitch Kapor.”

In the lead-up to the event, candidates will also be blogging their thoughts on GovFresh.com and citizens will be able to participate and react through a comments feature and a separate part of the site called SFideas.
