David Campos calls for hearing on overtime spending

After just six months of the fiscal year, more than 70 San Francisco workers have exceeded the overtime cap of 624 hours per worker per year, as reported in the Monday edition of The San Francisco Examiner.

The City is on track to overspend its budgeted overtime by nearly $40 million this year.

Supervisor David Campos announced Monday he will be “holding city departments accountable for overtime costs” during an April 14 hearing at the board’s Government Audit and Oversight Committee, which he chairs.

The hearing will, among other things, focus on what strategies city departments who use overtime the most are employing to reduce the overtime costs.

The hearing begins at 10 am, at City Hall, in Room 263.
