San Francisco needs more taxi service on Friday and Saturday nights, Supervisor Scott Wiener says.
The supervisor plans to introduce a resolution at Tuesday’s Board of Supervisors meeting in support of a proposal to increase the number of taxis on The City’s streets.
The proposal, pitched by the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency, would issue more permits that could be used during only those peak hours.
Current taxi service during those hours is “insufficient for a world-class city,” according to a statement released by the supervisor’s office.
“Along with Muni reform, increasing the number of taxis on our streets will allow people to live in San Francisco without needing a car,” Wiener said in a statement.
