Prosecutors are expected to drop about 40 more cases today involving a police plainclothes unit accused of illegally entering residential hotel rooms during drug raids and falsifying police reports, according to the Public Defender’s Office.
That would represent a significant jump in the number of cases so far dismissed since the scandal erupted earlier this month.
A total of 13 cases involving an eight-member undercover unit at Southern Station had been dropped as of Tuesday.
District Attorney George Gascón is expected to address the issue this morning.
