Local, state officials celebrate Presidio Branch library reopening

The newly renovated Presidio Branch, the seventeenth library to be revamped under a systemwide improvement program, will reopen on Saturday.

The 90-year-old library, located at 3150 Sacramento St., has been closed since January 2010 to allow for $4.1 million in needed improvements, which included new lighting arrangements, a refurbished interior and expanded energy efficiency measures.

On Saturday, several local officials, including City Librarian Luis Herrera, state Assemblywoman Fiona Ma and San Francisco Supervisor Mark Farrell, will celebrate the completion of the project with a ribbon cutting ceremony at the site. The celebration will kick off at 1 p.m.

The Presidio Branch renovation project was part of the $105.9 Branch Library Improvement Project, a bond measure approved by voters in 2000.
