The San Francisco International Airport Commission will hold a special public hearing April 5 to discuss proposals that would enforce new regulations on cabs, cut down on areas where people could smoke, and create fines for tampering with airport property.

If the proposals are approved, cab drivers at the hub would have to be in compliance with all regulations of the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency, which replaced the Taxi Commission as The City’s lead agency related to cabs. That same measure includes new regulations and fines for tampering with or falsifying airport operating decals.

The public hearing will also discuss plans to prohibit smoking in the courtyards and staging areas at the airport. New fines for moving airport-owned public seating are on the agenda as well.

The hearing will take place at 9 a.m. on April 5 at Room 400 in City Hall.
