San Francisco supervisors approve $4 million settlement in foster abuse case

A $4 million settlement was approved Tuesday by the Board of Supervisors bringing a close to a lawsuit filed by a foster child who was abused while under the supervision of the San Francisco Department of Child Protective Services.

The boy's twin sister was also killed by their foster parent.

"There has been a lax attitude toward children in the foster care system." Darren Kessler, the plaintiff's attorney, previously told The San Francisco Examiner. "Hopefully this outcome will make a difference."
