A proposal to increase fares for Golden Gate Transit’s ferry and bus passengers moved forward last week, when the district’s Board of Directors approved a set of public hearings on the measure.
The two public hearings will take place on April 6 and 7, with the first meeting set to take place in San Rafael and the second one at the Golden Gate Bridge District’s administrative building in San Francisco.
Following the public hearings, the bridge district’s board will vote on April 25 whether to give final authorization over the fare increase proposal, which would generate $2.6 million for the district over five years. If the board approves the fare increases, they will take affect on July 1.
