Nothing stokes populist rage like talking about Muni in San Francisco.
And if you are talking about Muni dumping its riders off before the end of the line, then you may end up with people yelling.
The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency, which operates Muni, said the number of early turnarounds has increased. Following that, there was a hearing about the N-Judah and J-Church light-rail trains turning back early, which the agency calls switchbacks.
The legislation asks for “a breakdown andcause for the switchbacks,” “the actual wait time for for passengers who must disembark due to switchbacks” and “the historic trend for switchbacks on the line.”
In a letter that preceded the legislation being introduced, Wiener said he wants to know “why the J Church has been running so inefficiently, what can be done immediately to alleviate these problems, and what can be done in the future, including possible physical changes to the line.”
