Ed Lee picks new spokesperson for mayoral term

Mayor Ed Lee on Monday announced he has selected his spokesperson for his interim mayor term, which lasts until someone takes office after being elected mayor this November.

Christine Falvey, who has served as communications director for the San Francisco Department of Public Works since 2003, will now serve as Lee’s spokeswoman.

“Christine Falvey will bring years of experience in City Government and a deep understanding of the vital services we deliver to her new position in the Mayor’s Office,” Lee said in a statement. “She has earned the respect of her colleagues, neighborhood leaders and members of the media alike and I’m very pleased she has agreed to join my team.”

Falvey lives in San Francisco with her husband and two children.

She replaces Tony Winnicker who has the distinction as being the last spokesman to speak for Gavin Newsom as mayor of San Francisco.
