Ed Lee joins Newsom in Sacramento

Ed Lee, the next mayor of San Francisco, who has been overseas, is back in California but not in The City he is about to lead.  He is with Gavin Newsom in Sacramento attending the former mayor’s swearing-in ceremony.

On Tuesday, City Administrator Ed Lee is expected to be officially appointed to the post by the Board of Supervisors. In the meantime, Board of Supervisors President David Chiu will have all the powers of mayor for 26 hours.

The board president is automatically acting mayor when a vacancy in the office occurs until the board appoints a replacement. Lee will serve as mayor until a new mayor is elected in November.
