Carpooling motorists who park their vehicles in public garages will receive a little holiday discount in Decemeber.

Starting on Wednesday, vehicles with three occupants can park for free for one hour at eight public garages managed by the Municipal Transportation Agency. Vehicles with four or more occupants will receive free parking for two hours.

The carpooling discount will be in affect every day from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., except at the Civic Center garage, which will only feature the deal during the weekends. The offer will last until December 26. A list of all participating parking garages can be found here.

The MTA, which manages all transportation issues in The City, has engaged in a series of initiatives aimed at making life easier for local shoppers this holiday season. One of those programs is a $2 all-day pass for transit riders on Sundays.
