Where’s your beef, Wendy’s?
An outraged customer who asked that question in a rather violent manner at a Wendy’s restaurant in Belmont on Aug. 16 was found guilty Friday of misdemeanor vandalism, San Mateo County prosecutors said.
Eric Casey Way, 36, was upset about having to wait for his food, cops said. He thought people in the drive-thru were being served more quickly, so he went to the drive-thru line and tried to get into someone’s car, according to authorities.
When the driver honked his horn, Way “climbed onto the hood of the victim’s SUV and slammed his fist into the front windshield, cracking the glass and damaging the hood,” prosecutors said.
The damage was about $1,000, they said.
Way has “a long history of mental illness,” authorities said.
The jury deliberated for 44 minutes before reaching its verdict. Sentencing is scheduled for Dec. 3, prosecutors said.
