Cabbie eschews hostile passenger, makes citizen’s arrest

A taxi driver paid a price for not picking up a belligerent passenger last week, police said.

The cabbie told cops that a drunken man who tried to flag him down around midnight Aug. 19 near Fillmore and Pine streets went berserk, throwing his backpack at the car, punching its windows with his fist and then kicking and breaking the cab’s rearview mirror, police said.

The driver made a citizen’s arrest against the man, who cops said was intoxicated. The deranged passenger even fought cops while they were putting him into the patrol car, police said. He was booked in county jail, they said.
