San Francisco cops crack case of stolen credit card used at Joe’s Crab Shack

This crook will have to get his crabs in jail.

A man who attempted to use a stolen credit card at the famous Joe’s Crab Shack in Fisherman’s Wharf on Tuesday was arrested after the manager became suspicious.

About 2:15 p.m., police said, officers arrived at the Jefferson Street eatery, where the manager pointed out the crook. It soon became apparent to the officers why the suspect would be hungry: He had apparently just been to the gym.

“During the investigation, officers discovered that the suspect had gone into the locker room at 24 Hour Fitness and stolen a wallet out of a locker,” police at Central station said.

That wallet had contained the credit card the suspect attempted to use at Joe’s Crab Shack, police said.

Police have advised gym patrons in the past to lock up their belongings at both private and public gyms, as reports of such thefts are common.
