Boy one of 3 injured in San Francisco shootings on New Year’s Eve

Three people were wounded — including a 12-year-old boy — in two separate shootings late Monday along San Francisco’s waterfront, where thousands of people gathered to ring in the new year.

A half-hour before midnight, police said, officers responding to reports of gunshots outside a restaurant near Pier 23 found a 12-year-old boy who had been struck in the foot by a bullet. A stray bullet also reportedly grazed the hip of an unidentified man. Neither the boy nor the man had life-threatening injuries, police said.

An argument between two groups might have led to the gunfire. Police had not announced any arrests as of Tuesday.

Less than an hour before that incident, police said, a man was shot in the hand at Jefferson and Mason streets. The man is expected to survive.

The shooter was last seen fleeing on Beach Street toward Alioto’s Restaurant, police said. No arrests have been reported by police.

But cops did make other busts late Monday and early Tuesday. According to preliminary numbers, police said, 10 people were arrested along The Embarcadero during festivities that included a fireworks show. Eight arrests were for public intoxication and two for unnamed misdemeanors, police said.
