Alleged copper thief gets coppers’ attention in SoMa

A man was arrested on suspicion of copper theft in South of Market on Saturday, police said Tuesday.

Michael David O’Keefe, 55, was apprehended about 5:30 a.m. after he was seen running from an open PG&E manhole in the 1600 block of Folsom Street, police said. He was reportedly found with high-voltage copper wires estimated to be worth about $90. Police also detained a second suspect.
