A man was robbed of his cellphone while riding the F-Market line Tuesday, police said.

The 51-year-old victim was texting on his phone in the 700 block of Market Street about 9:15 p.m. when a man aged 25 to 30 yanked the phone from his hands and fled the streetcar on foot, police said.

The suspect chased after the crook a short distance, police said, but the crook knocked him to the ground and continued his escape. No arrest has been made.
