Man shot by crossfire, badly hurt in Tenderloin

A 59-year-old man was critically injured Wednesday when a shootout erupted near his Tenderloin business.

The shopkeeper was outside his business in the 300 block of Hyde Street about 6:30 p.m. when a man arguing with three other men started firing shots, police Officer Gordon Shyy said. The shopkeeper was struck in the leg.

The shooter reportedly fled in a dark-colored SUV driven by a woman. Detailed descriptions of the four men were not available, and no arrests have been made.

The victim was hospitalized, Shyy said, and his injuries remained life-threatening Thursday.
