Money, alcohol, fire don't mix for San Francisco man

This firebug appeared to have cash to burn, but it wasn’t his money.

Luis A. Hernandez of San Francisco was arrested Saturday on suspicion of breaking into a family’s house in the 1600 block of Dolores Street and starting a fire.

Hernandez, who might have been drunk, reportedly entered through a rear patio door about 5:15 a.m. while the family was sleeping upstairs, police Officer Albie Esparza said. He attempted to light the father’s wallet on fire on top of the stove, Esparza said.

The man came downstairs and confronted Hernandez, who reportedly said he was going to burn the house down.

When police arrived, Hernandez was still at the home, Esparza said. He was arrested.
